English:
Hardy to Zones 6 to 10
Bulbous, clumping monocot native to Europe, Asia and North America. This is the smallest of the edible onions, valued for its green leaves (scapes) and flower buds–choppable, colorful, and flavorful. Cut and come again type of vegetable that always seems to be there just when you need it most (ie when scrambling eggs and there’s nothing green in the house). Used in organic growing to repel insects and burrowing mammals. Sow seed in spring or summer. Sprinkle on surface of soil, barely cover, tamp securely and keep warm and evenly moist until germination. Thin or transplant to 6 inches apart. Plant prefers moist, regular garden soil to rich soil, full sun to part shade.
